"Le Cabanon de Jeannot" a cottage in the Luberon.
It is the former wash-house of the hamlet of the "Basse Borie".
It dates from about 1870 and has been renovated in 2003.
If you say wash-house, you mean water, if you say water, you mean... a well !
When the building was rehabilited, the renovators were faced with a dilemma :
either make the well (2 min diameter, 6m deep) conspicuous and therfore showing respect for its builders;
or cover it by means of a concrete slab. The first solution was chosen.
A glass slab of about 60 kilos able to support 1800 kilos was placed on top.
The inside of the well is illuminated and with a wonderful result for most people
(transparency of the water, remarkable joining of the stones).
But it could prove a bit distressing for some.

This divelling can house 4 people but would be more adapted for 2; as one bed is a convertible settee.
To reach this peaceful haven there are a few steps. But you won't mind them!

Ground floor:
kitchen: with 2 electric hotplates, microwave oven, traditional oven, fridge-freezer, coffe-maker.
Small utility-room: washing machine, iron.
Living-room:
convertible settee, table, 4 chairs, TV.
Direct opening on the terrace of about 15 sq.meters with table, 4 armchairs, 1 big parasol.
Access to a swimming-pool in 2 parts (one shallow for children) with lounge beds.
Shelter with barbecue,cooking facilities, toilet, shower.
It is also possible to use the fully equipped special oven for pizzas (and the benefit of free good advice!)
